James E. Barber, 88, Roscoe, died Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born Dec. 16, 1930, he was a son of John and Beatrice Ostrander Barber. James was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the National Slovak Society. His favorite hobbies included fishing and hunting. He graduated from Charleroi High School in 1949. James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Stefana “Stef” Muzina Barber; a son, Michael (Crystal) Barber of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Colleen Barber; four grandchildren, Matthew, Stephen (Samantha), Olivia and Emily Barber; a sister, Ina Bilitski; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, James Barber Jr.; three brothers, John, Frank and Rich; and four sisters, Melissa, Marie, Annamae and Beatrice. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2019, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. A blessing service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2019, in the funeral home with interment following at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.melenyzer.com.
