Tri-County Realty used a hot second half to secure a 78-57 opening night victory to kick off the 11th season of J. Budd Grebb Memorial Summer Basketball League at the Mechanic Street Playground in California Tuesday.

Alex Conrad fueled the second half run, scoring six of his 10 points in a five-minute span, all on transition layups. Joey Caruso of BeeGraphix ended the run with a triple at the 10:58 mark before the two teams traded baskets again with Tri-County leading with 48-40.

“I think that we came out to play more than I might have anticipated actually,” said Tri-County head coach Aaron Balla. “The younger guys stepped up and did an excellent job at executing and we’ll need those guys to continue to do that throughout the season.”

Beth Center’s Jacob Bobbs led the way for Tri-County and controlled the inside. He battled his way to 19 points. Bobbs and Conrad were joined in double figures by Daniel Gordon (15), Tyler Kovatch (14) and Andrew Bower (12).
