Reading ‘road trip’ takes students to Tube City Center

Students and families from the McKeesport Area School District had the chance to tour Tube City Center last week.
The visit was one of the stops on the MASD Roaring Readers Summer Family Literacy Program’s “Summer Reading City Road trip.”
The kids got to walk around the facility, formerly known as the Daily News building, which recently became home to three journalistic entities — the Mon Valley Independent (McKeesport office), Tube City Community Media and Point Park University Center for Media Innovation McKeesport Community Newsroom.
“Families were shown around the historic building and informed of the happenings that took place for many years while the Daily News was operating in McKeesport,” teacher Amy O’Grady said.
