Greyhounds go 1, 2 in Grebb League draft
By the Mon Valley Independent
While the girls division of the J. Budd Grebb Memorial Summer Basketball League tipped off their season last night, the boys division got underway Tuesday with its annual player draft.
This season, 15 school districts are represented as far from California as Mt. Pleasant and Bethel Park. There’s even a player from Red Lion High School in East York.
But while many districts are represented, a pair of Monessen seniors were the top two picks in this year’s draft.
The Greyhounds’ Dawayne Howell went first overall to Union Cleaners while teammate Marquell Smith went second to Dairy Queen.
Tri-County Realty, the former Northwood Realty squad, selected California’s Kwandre Porter – a junior – with the third pick.
