New office for Mon Valley Initiative

By Mon Valley Independent

For the MV Independent

Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce and Mon Valley Initiative celebrated the completion of the initiative’s Mid-Mon Office with a ribbon cutting and Flag Day celebration Friday in Charleroi.

Located at 435 McKean Ave., the office provides services five days a week to people from throughout the Mid-Mon Valley who are seeking new jobs, including resume-writing help, interviewing practice and career and financial coaching.

A computer lab is available for job seekers to work on their resumes, submit applications and learn software applications.

Improvements to the building’s facade were funded in part by a grant from the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce, while additional support for the office was provided by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation and an anonymous donor.

The initiative also offers home-buying assistance, including pre-purchase housing and mortgage counseling, from the Charleroi location.
