Thomas G. Patterson Jr. – Rostraver Township

Thomas G. Patterson Jr., 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 12, 2019, after a short illness. Born in North Charleroi on Oct. 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Thomas and Inez Witherspoon Patterson. Tom was a lifelong Rostraver Township resident. Tom served as a Rostraver Township Commissioner and served on the Rostraver Township Sewage Authority board. Tom enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and gardening, but most of all spending time with the love of his life, Jean. Tom was Presbyterian by faith and loved serving the Lord at the First Presbyterian Church, where he so admirably tried to perform his duties as head usher with help from his special friend, Bill Callaway. He was a member of Tri-County Lodge No. 252, Donora. Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean; sons, Randy (Lori) Patterson of Scenery Hill and Scott (Ashley) Patterson of Rostraver Township; grandchildren, of whom he was so proud, Evan, McKenna and Ethan; brother, Dale (Linda) Patterson of Rostraver Township; and sister, Joyce P. Smith, of Rostraver Township. As well as being preceded in death by his parents, Tom lost his beloved daughter, Cheryl, on May 31, 1996, a loss from which his broken heart never quite fully recovered. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com.  FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET for a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Belle Vernon. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Tri-County Lodge No. 252 Donora will conduct a Masonic funeral service for Brother Patterson at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church 501 Fayette St. Belle Vernon, PA 15012.
