Maureen C. Sylvester Jenkins – Rostraver Township

Maureen C. Sylvester Jenkins, 83, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Canonsburg Hospital. Born Aug. 25, 1935, in North Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late Reno and Bernadine Davis Sylvester. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mrs. Jenkins was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. Maureen worked in retail sales at the former Labels, Tri-County Plaza and Kaufmann’s Department Store. She also played in numerous card clubs throughout the Mon Valley and was an avid reader. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Bruce Sakalik of South Strabane Township; a son, Shawn Jenkins; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Elaine Sylvester of Belle Vernon; and grandchildren, Alexandra Sakalik and Jonathan Sakalik. She was preceded in death by her sister, Valerie Sylvester Rathe. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayers of Transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the Rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday.
