White Oak may use bond issue to pay for repairs

By Mon Valley Independent

Over the past few months, White Oak council has tasked borough engineer Ken Hillman of Senate Engineering with evaluating what repairs and upgrades are needed at and on borough-owned facilities and roads.

Borough manager John Palyo announced Tuesday that council is considering paying for the deficiencies found via those evaluations with a bond issue.

He said council will hold a public forum at 7 p.m. June 19 to gather public comment on the bond proposal, adding that bond money would be used to perform repairs and maintenance on several roofs, lighting systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and floors at multiple borough-owned buildings.

Additionally, council is considering using the bond money to repair or resurface many “deteriorating” borough-owned roads, according to Palyo.
