Mid Mon Valley All Sports Hall of Fame: Allen starred at Monessen and around the globe

Charel Allen has a storied basketball career that has spanned two decades and taken her around the world.

A 2004 Monessen High School graduate and a four-year starter for the Greyhounds, the 5-11 Allen built quite a formidable basketball legacy before even stepping foot on a college or professional basketball court.  

During her career at Monessen, Allen earned Associated Press All-State first team honors in 2002, 2003 and 2004. In addition, Allen earned AP selection as the Class A Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004. Allen also received accolades as a Street and Smith’s honorable mention All-American during all four years of her high school career. 

Allen is one of seven inductees that will be welcomed into the Mid Mon Valley All Sports Hall of Fame on June 21.
