Port Vue police collecting school supplies

By Mon Valley Independent

Lt. David Petruski says the officers of the Port Vue Police Department like to be involved with their community, and make an effort to create positive relationships with local youths.

That’s the inspiration for the second-ever Supplies for Students Campaign, which began last week and runs through Aug. 10. The program will collect supplies for students at South Allegheny Elementary School.

“We have two collection boxes set up for donations,” Petruski said. “One is at the police department and one is at the municipal building. They are blue collection boxes where people can drop off new school supplies that will be given to the elementary school in August for them to disperse.”

Petruski said the department is accepting pencils, pens, notebooks, binders, crayons, index cards, loose leaf paper, erasers, pencil boxes, flash cards, coloring books, markers, colored pencils and more.
