Harold J. Smith, 87, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 6, 2019, in his home. A son of the late George and Mabel Morgan Smith, he was born in McKeesport, on June 27, 1931. He was a member of Journey By Grace Church in Rostraver Township and was a former member of the Park Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. Harold was a man with a strong faith in his Lord and Savior. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 35 years, he was formerly of Port Vue and had retired from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad. Harold spent his life caring for his late wife of 64 years and his family. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and George Morrison of Belle Vernon, and Michelle and Craig Bilsky of Donora; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Bethany) Morrison of Huntsville, Ala., John (Brittany) Morrison of Belle Vernon, Sarah (Thomas) Anielewski of Pittsburgh, Jared Bilsky of Donora; and eight great-grandchildren, Georgia Morrison, Parker James Morrison, Addison Morrison, Lilliana Grace Morrison, Samantha Morrison, Sean Morrison, Mackenzie Morrison and Nahum Anielewski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rennetta E. Sullivan Smith on Jan. 11, 2015; a great-granddaughter, Ella Ruth Morrison, on Sept. 3, 2013; two sisters, Ethel Carolus and Esther Pakel; and four brothers, Charles, Roy, Earl Smith and George Smith in infancy. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300 www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Journey By Grace Church with Pastor Bill Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.
