Despite a lopsided win over Chartiers-Houston in the WPIAL semifinal, Frazier softball coach Don Hartman knew Thursday’s PIAA quarterfinal matchup between the section rivals was going to be all-out war.

He was right.

But his Commodores struck first and were able to hold on for a 4-3 win and advance to the PIAA semifinals for the first time in program history thanks to clutch hitting, impressive defense and gutsy pitching.

“We knew coming in this was going to be a one-, two-run war,” Hartman said. “They were well-prepared, shortened their swings and got some contact. They hit the big home run and got the momentum back, but we got a huge insurance run and were able to battle through in that last inning against the best of their lineup and Logan got a nice pop out to end it.”
