Norma Jane Lewis – Monessen

Norma Jane Lewis, 91, of Monessen, died Saturday, June 1, 2019.  Born in Bethel Township on Jan. 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jane C. Staff Hamilton. Norma Jane was the last surviving sibling of her family of 18 children. She worked in the housekeeping department at Monongahela Valley Hospital for 36 years, retiring in 2012. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, where she taught Sunday school for many years and served as a deacon. She was also a member of the Dames of Malta, Pythian Sisters and The Rebekahs. She is survived by her daughters, Mildred J. (Robert) Grant of Flanders, N.J., and Lori L. Lamberski of Monessen; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elsie (Thomas) Horan of Rostraver, and Dorothy Lucas of Coal Center; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son; son, Albert H. Lewis Jr.; 17 brothers and sisters; and brother-in-law, Jim Lucas. A Memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, 501 Fayette St., Belle Vernon, with the Rev. Suzanne Currie officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to: First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, 501 Fayette St., Belle Vernon, PA 15012.
