Their hair is a little grayer, their bodies are not quite as muscular and there’s not as much spring in their step, but when Bob Rosborough, Lou “Bimbo” Cecconi and Rich Mongeluzzo talk about Donora Dragons football, they’re all 17 again.

On Saturday, they shared memories of playing for the Dragons and their passion for the team and their hometown with a crowd of local residents at the Donora Public Library. The program is part of an ongoing project of the Donora Historical Society to preserve and honor the legacy of the town’s legendary high school football teams.

Mark Pawelec of the historical society came up with idea for the program after talking to some of the ex-players. He found their stories so interesting that he wanted to bring them together at the library to share their memories with the public.

Rosborough kicked off the discussion by saying he feels he is standing on “sacred ground” when he visits Donora.
