Katherine Ann Petronka, 84, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away on May 22, 2019, after a long illness. She was born to Arthur and Dorothy Loutitt Dishart on April 4th, 1935. She graduated from Monongahela High School in 1953. She married James Andrew Petronka in 1960. They were married for 46 years at the time of his death in 2006. She is survived by her children, Becky (Raymond) Staresina, Lori (Dale) Huff and James Scott (Amanda) Petronka; and her grandchildren, Emma and Claire Huff and Emily and Zack Petronka. She was predeceased by her husband, James, in 2006; her father, Arthur Dishart, in 1945; her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Vedder, in 1975; her mother, Dorothy Dishart Skaine, in 1998; and her stepfather, Richard Skaine, in 2002. Katherine was born in Monongahela, where she lived until she relocated to Gary, Ind., in 1960 for her husband’s career with U.S. Steel. They later moved to Valparaiso, and finally Portage, Ind., where they resided until 1988 when they moved to Marietta, Ga. They ultimately retired in Port Charlotte, Fla. Katherine loved being a homemaker and prided herself on her clean and orderly home. She always had a home project she was working on or thinking about. She said her happiest days were being married and staying home with her young children. As a lifelong Christian, Katherine looked forward to being reunited with her loved ones in heaven. There will be a private family memorial service on Sunday, June 2, 2019. Her ashes will be interred at a later date in Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mental Health America.
