Donald P. Hoffman – Charleroi

Donald P. Hoffman, 77, of Charleroi, died Thursday, May 30, 2019, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born April 6, 1942, in Monongahela, he was the son of Walter A. and Mary E. McDonald Hoffman. A 1960 graduate of Monongahela High School, Don played the trombone in the school’s band. After serving in the U.S. Army, Don returned home and worked in construction until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Monongahela. Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline (Preston) Hoffman, whom he married June 15, 1973; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Lynn (Budd) Staten of Charleroi; two stepsons, Joseph M. May III of Lochbuie, Colo., and Robert C. (Carmen) May of Austin, Texas; a  sister, Eileen Schaum of Kentucky; seven step-grandchildren, Robert W. (fiancée, Chrystal Cromey), William, Carly, Sydney and MacKenzie May, Brittany (Chris) Lubic, Jacqueline (Shawn) Milligan and Melissa (Brandon) Dilworth; four great-grandchildren, Magnus Lubic, Ralph and Joseph Miligan and Savanah Dilworth. Preceding him in death was a stepson, Michael E. May, who died Feb. 19, 2019; and a brother Walter Leroy Hoffman. A memorial service will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday June 8, 2019, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 136 Sacred Heart Road, Monongahela, PA 15063, with Bishop Curt Stinnett.
