Organizers hope to make history when the City of Monongahela celebrates its 250th anniversary in August.
An official Guinness World Records judge will visit Monongahela Aug. 11 as the city attempts to establish the wedding cookie table world record. Organizers are looking for bakers and for couples who would like to get married as part of the event.
The nonprofit Monongahela 250 group — led by Laura Magone, Carol Frye, Susan Bowers and Martha Muniz — is working to finalize events for the celebration. There will be events every day from Aug. 8 to 11.
Magone, who administers The Wedding Cookie Table Community public Facebook group, said the group is fielding inquiries from couples who are interested in getting married, which is an important part of the event.
