Elaine M. Tyger Tonkavich – Fayette City

Elaine M. Tyger Tonkavich, 76, of Fayette City, Washington Township, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at TownView Health & Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg. Born May 7, 1943, in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Ondulick Tyger. A resident of Fayette City for the past 35 years, Mrs. Tonkavich was a member of St. Mary’s Bzyantine Catholic Church, Monessen. Mrs. Tonkavich was a former beautician for several shops in Monessen and was later employed at the former Halco on Route 906. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Ladies Guild and enjoyed taking care of her family and her pet dog, Garbo. She is survived by her husband, Gary Tonkavich, to whom she was married for 51 years; son, Zeb Tonkavich of Fayette City; and sister Dorothea Kalamoutousis of Monessen. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, family Oowned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations with the Rev. Stephen J. Wahal as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Members of St. Mary’s Byzantine Church will pray the Rosary for the departed soul of Elaine at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
