Trojans aim to continue championship tradition

When Lou Pasquale took over as head coach at California prior to last season, he inherited a group faced with the challenge of having to replace seven seniors after winning a WPIAL Class 2A championship in 2017.
Pasquale’s young squad endured its share of growing pains in his first year at the helm, finishing with a 9-8 overall record and a 9-5 mark in Section 1-2A play. California advanced to the WPIAL playoffs, but was one-and-done after suffering a first-round loss to Carlynton.
One year later, the Trojans have made huge strides.
After winning 15 games during the regular season and capturing the Section 2-A championship with an unblemished record, California is once again playing for WPIAL gold.
