Donald Ward, 85, of Brownstown, Fayette City, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019, at his daughter Yvonne’s residence, surrounded by family. He was born Aug. 21, 1933, in Denbo, son of John Ward and Ann Snock Ward. Don was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, member of the Brightwell-Daughtery American Legion Post 484, Fayette City, Pa. He was a life member of the Naomi Athletic Club and was an avid baseball player and golfer. He was known as the Roscoe Hummer in his baseball playing days. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant with over 40 years of service. He is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Cochran and husband Matt of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, and Donna Cabin and husband Alan of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Donald Schultz and Lachelle, Kenneth Schultz and Rachel Cabin; four great-grandchildren, Addison and Carter Schultz and Serena and Michael; three sisters, Mary Jane Lutton of Louisiana, Martha Shipley of Vermont and Flo Gilbert of Washington, Pa.; brother, John Ward of Pittsburgh; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Ward of Grindstone. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Ann Ward; brother, Bill Ward; and sister, Bertha Police. Family and Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Taylor Cemetery, Centerville. Members of Post 484 will conduct services at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
