McDonald-Kemp wins judge post in Washington County

Traci McDonald-Kemp earned both parties’ nominations in the race for Washington County Court of Common Pleas Judge by a 3 to 1 margin.
McDonald-Kemp, current Cecil Township Magisterial District Judge, earned 73.7% of the vote (11,685) on the Democratic ballot and 64.1% of the Republican vote (8,044).
Her opponent, Joyce Hatfield, took home 26.2% (4,153) of the vote on the Democratic ticket and 35.7% on the Republican ballot (4,472).
“Each day, I have been honored with the responsibility of impacting people’s lives,” McDonald-Kemp said. “Whether as assistant district attorney or as a magisterial district judge, protecting the most vulnerable in our community.”
McDonald-Kemp said she feels it is an extraordinary honor by have earned the votes of Republicans and Democrats.
“I have gained the support of both parties today because I have and will continue to put the law above politics. When I was a little girl growing up in Washington County, I used to look up at the courthouse in awe and wonder if I could be there someday,” she said.
