Local competitors ready for PIAA championship meet

Three local WPIAL champions and a host of other competitors began their journey to Shippensburg University for the annual PIAA Track and Field Championships Thursday.

The event kicks off today at 9 a.m. with local competitors scattered throughout various events at Seth Grove Stadium.

Leading the way for the Valley’s contingent are a trio of WPIAL champions.

Elizabeth Forward’s Bri Spirnak won javelin gold last week at the WPIAL championships and will look to move up a spot from her runner-up finish at last year’s state meet.
