Ronald J. Celaschi – Allenport

By obits

Ronald J. Celaschi, 84, of Allenport died Wednesday, May, 22, 2019. Born in Charleroi on Dec. 27, 1934, a son of the late Ugo and Josephine Sarra Celaschi. Ronald retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel plant in Allenport and was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Parish, formerly St. Joseph’s. Ronald proudly served his country during the Korean War as a soldier in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of the Roscoe American Legion Post 801, the Allenport Rod & Gun Club, Charleroi Elks 494, an avid golfer and a dedicated volunteer for the Mon Valley Community Federal Credit Union, where he also served as a chairman of the board for nearly 50 years. But some of his best memories were spending precious time with his grandchildren. Ronald married Agnes Canova in 1966 and remained wed until her passing in 2016. Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Ronald R. Celaschi (Tricia) of Belle Vernon and Christopher Celaschi (Vivian) of Belle Vernon; a daughter, Susan Cyktor; a brother, Francis (Cheech) Celaschi of Charleroi; a sister, Linda Craig of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Talia, Gabrielle, Gracie, and Dominic. He is preceded in death by his brother, Norman Celaschi. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC. 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. A blessing service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, in the funeral home with interment following at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.melenyzer.com.
