A Charleroi man accused of assaulting his girlfriend now faces additional charges for witness intimidation.

Charleroi Regional police on Monday charged Welmar Adonay Rosales-Baides, 33, of Fallowfield Avenue with obstruction of justice, criminal use of a communication facility, intimidation of witness/victim – refrain from report, intimidate witness/victim – withhold testimony, hinder apprehension/prosecution – conceal/destroy evidence and harassment.

The additional charges stem from a follow-up meeting with alleged victim Shauwna Sethman May 15, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Sethman provided police with a series of text messages from Rosales-Baides, in which he allegedly attempted to persuade her to drop the charges through monetary bribes and other coercion.
