Now that the effort to save Community Days has been successful, Forward Township officials are making preparations for the summer festival.

A township tradition and one of the best-attended summer events in the Mon Valley, Community Days was in jeopardy of being canceled because of a lack of volunteers.

The township reached out to the community and surrounding areas asking for help, and enough volunteers have stepped up to keep the tradition going.

Community Days weekend is set for Aug. 17-18 and while official details have not yet been released, organizers are working to ensure it is better than ever before.
