Warriors begin quest for 4A crown

Thirteen days have passed since Elizabeth Forward defeated Penn-Trafford in a nonsection bout, the last meaningful game the Warriors took part in.
The Section 2-4A champions from EF (14-3) earned the No. 2 seed in the Class 4A playoff bracket, allowing them to avoid a first-round matchup, but giving them a lengthy layoff.
Still, coach Harry Rutherford’s squad has been hard at work, taking part in routine practice sessions and competing in scrimmages with playoff teams in South Park and Norwin.
“The two scrimmages are obviously a big deal when you’re off 13 days without playing a game,” Rutherford said. “You need to get some type of play in.”
