Another organization has announced that it will be calling McKeesport’s Tube City Center for Business and Innovation home.
New Century Careers, based on Pittsburgh’s South Side, announced this week that it will celebrate its 20th anniversary by expanding its MANUFACTURING 2000 (M2K) training program inside the center, which is located at 409 Walnut St. and is commonly known as the former Daily News building.
A nonprofit, NCC is a southwestern Pennsylvania-based workforce development organization with a dual client mission to support pre-employment and incumbent manufacturing workers as well as their current or future employers. The organization seeks to help participants advance economically through continuous workforce education and training.
M2K is a short-term pre-apprenticeship program that is offered at no cost to qualified job seekers. NCC recruits, screens, tests, trains and places high school graduates 18 and older in entry-level machinist jobs that lead to career pathways with family-sustaining wages, said NCC president and CEO Paul Anselmo.
