Burnell Dawn Robinson Jr, 80, of Monessen, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2019, at Monongahela Hospital. He was born March 16, 1939, to the late Floyd Cartwright and Muriel Robinson and stepfather, Peter Bascome, in Pembroke, Bermuda. “Smokey,” as he was affectionately called, had a smile that was contagious. His personality was endearing and his love for his family was enduring. He loved animals and was an avid sports fan. He was well known for his trade of painting throughout the Valley. He was an entertainer in Pembroke, Bermuda, in several groups and cut an album. Smokey worked for Matt Canastral Sanitation in Belle Vernon. He also worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and the Allenport mill. Smokey leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife of almost 44 years, Evelyn Mosely Robinson; four sons, Wayne Robinson, Dentin Robinson and Cooly Robinson, all of Bermuda, and Burnell D. Robinson III of Monessen; three daughters, Dee Dee Shields and Donnell Robinson of Bermuda and Natalie Robinson of Orlando, Fla.; brothers, Floyd Carwright of Boston, Mass., Butch Cartwright, Goodwin Bascome and Noel Bascome, all of Bermuda; a niece, whom he helped raise, Shaydrina Bascome; grandchildren, Brazil Robinson, Joshua Rodriegus and Keyland Robinson; goddaughters, Raynell Mays and Shamile Bascome; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Robinson. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, with services to begin at 11 a.m. at the Christian Life Ministries on Patton Street, Monessen.
