Trojans earn top seed as lengthy layoff awaits

The brackets have been finalized and WPIAL playoff baseball is near.
While seven local teams embark on their road to Wild Things Park next week, three were named among the top seeds as the WPIAL revealed playoff baseball brackets Friday afternoon.
In Class A, California was named the No. 1 seed while Serra Catholic (Class 2A) and Yough (Class 4A) earned No. 2 seeds.
Monessen claimed the sixth seed in Class A, while Ringgold (No. 5), Elizabeth Forward (No. 8) and Belle Vernon Area (No. 11) will all try to make some noise in Class 4A.
