Track athletes set for WPIAL meet

Local track athletes are gearing up for the WPIAL Individual Track Championships, which will kick off Thursday at Slippery Rock University.

The event was moved from Baldwin High School, where it was held for the last several years.

The top 24 athletes in their events in Class 3A and top 16 in 2A have qualified for the WPIAL meet based on times/distances achieved throughout the regular season.

Again, the Mon Valley will be well represented and even finds itself with a few gold-medal favorites in their respective events.
