“That’s an angry little machine.”

With his safety goggles properly in place and a smile from ear to ear, state Department of Labor and Industry Secretary Jerry Oleksiak watched intently as a robot designed by Mon Valley Career and Technology students threw a metal chair to the ceiling of the bots’ arena.

The Mon Valley Career and Technology Center, located in Speers, educates students and adults to enhance their career, technical and academic skills to prepare them for the demands of business and industry.

Oleksiak toured the Mon Valley Career and Technology Center on Friday to highlight Gov. Tom Wolf’s proposed Statewide Workforce, Education and Accountability Program and learn what goes on behind the scenes and what members of the “wolf pack” aspire to be after graduation.

SWEAP is a workforce development plan that invests in Pennsylvanians from birth to retirement and includes expanding job skills training for students and adults.
