Harris ‘Sam’ Helmantoler Sr. – Monongahela

Harris “Sam” Helmantoler Sr., 76 of Monongahela, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019, in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh with his loving family by his side. Sam was born June 1, 1942 in Webster and attended Donora High School where he graduated in 1960. He then served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Texas, where soon after met the love of his life, Sara “Sali”, whom he shared a long, loving marriage with for over 50 years. He was knowledgeable with the bible, having read it cover to cover twice in his lifetime and served as a member of Journey by Grace Church in Rostraver Township. Sam enjoyed his 1961 Chevy Impala that he had won numerous car shows with and riding his Harley with his friends and two sons. Surviving are two sons, Harris “Sam” Helmantoler Jr. and David S. Helmantoler of Monongahela; a sister, Laura Weaver of W.Va.; and two granddaughters, whom loved their “Papa”, Victoria Helmantoler of Hopwood and Samantha (Corey) Swetz of Uniontown; along with a great-grandson, Lincoln Samuel Swetz of Uniontown. Sam was full of life, sharing his last few years traveling with his girlfriend, Sandy Indof of Rostraver. Awaiting him in heaven are his wife, Sara E. “Sali” Helmantoler, who died Sept. 28, 2016; and three brothers, Elmer H., Daniel F., and Ronald E. Helmantoler. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Sam’s Life at Palmer Park in Donora on Sam’s birthday, Saturday June 1, 2019 at 1pm.
