Yough tops Frazier as teams join cancer fight

When discussing the cream of the crop in Class 2A and 4A softball, the conversation includes Frazier and Yough, respectively.
Entering the playoffs as second-place finishers from their respective sections, the two teams are in prime position to make noise the postseason. Pitching is a big reason why.
Yough’s Kierra Waywood outdueled Frazier’s Logan Hartman in the Cougars’ 3-0 victory in the annual “Strike Out Cancer” game at Cougar Mountain.
Waywood was dominant in the circle for Yough (12-5), tossing a complete game two-hitter. The Cal U recruit threw 102 pitches and struck out a season-high 16. She struck out the side three times and posted two or more punchouts in six of seven innings.
