Two 10th inning errors by the Belle Vernon Area defense helped Thomas Jefferson escape the John DiVirgilio Sports Complex with a 4-3 extra-inning win in Section 3-4A play Monday night.
A throwing error by third baseman Tyler Steadman allowed Josh Reynolds to reach with the go-ahead run, and he came in to score when Mike Huber stung a hard ground ball to Josh Hoffman.
The Youngstown State recruit bobbled the ball, picked it up and threw to first just late allowing Reynolds to score.
“That’s just one play in the game,” BVA coach Daryl Hixenbaugh said. “Josh will be hard on himself about it, but it’s just one of many plays. There’s no doubt in my mind he’s going to bounce back and be ready for a big game Wednesday.”
