Beverly Clifford ‘Johnny’ Draper Jr. – Monessen

Beverly Clifford “Johnny” Draper Jr., 64, of Monessen, went to his eternal rest suddenly on May 5, 2019. Born June 1, 1954, he was the son of the late Beverly C. and Helen Christian Draper. He was a lifelong resident of Monessen. Following his graduation from Monessen High School in 1972, Johnny played football at Indiana University of Pennsylvania before attending Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. After graduating, he joined his father in business. In addition to being the owner and supervisor of Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home, he was employed by Volkswagen and Sony, both in New Stanton. He graduated from The Culinary Institute of Pittsburgh and worked for a time as a chef at Cedarbrook Clubhouse Grille in Rostraver. Most recently, he was employed by Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services Inc. (S.P.H.S.) in a group home in Monessen. Johnny was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Donora, where he served as trustee, Men’s Day chairman and the van transportation. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Draper McLee. Johnny is survived by a nephew, Kevin McLee; great-niece and great-nephew, Joyce and Kevin McLee, all of Pittsburgh; many cousins, a few to whom he was very close, Shelley (Rob) Ramsey, Dale (Michele) Simpson, Maurice “Tubby” (Rella) Rice, Kay Dudley, Marlene Poindexter and Helen McKissick along with many others and a host of family members and friends. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2019, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, the hour of service, at St. Paul Baptist Church, 49 South McKean Ave., Donora, PA 15033. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
