The Elizabeth Forward softball team checked another achievement off its list, finishing a perfect section season with a 5-3 victory over Belle Vernon Area Thursday at William Penn Field.
But despite the win, EF head coach Harry Rutherford wasn’t all smiles after the final out was recorded.
“It definitely wasn’t our best game,” Rutherford said. “I warned them we had to watch for games like this popping up on us. With the section wrapped up and they’re not a playoff team, sometimes it can be hard to get up for these kind of games.”
The Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after BVA pitcher Sophie Godzak walked Bri Sersevic to start the frame.
