A Monessen man’s federal lawsuit against California University of Pennsylvania and the borough’s police department has been dismissed.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisa Pupo Lenihan closed the civil rights case last week after issuing a judgment order in favor of its defendants and against Charles Mrlack Jr.

A former candidate for the state House of Representatives in the 58th Legislative District, Mrlack was represented by attorneys Steve Toprani and Joseph R. Dalfonso, who filed the case in Western Pennsylvania’s U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh.

Lenihan issued a 19-page memorandum opinion in support of her decision benefiting Cal U, California borough, retired police Chief Rick Encapera and officers Donald Gettig, Tom McCarthy, Alyssa Brown, Daniel Sturm, Steven Orbin and Edward McShefery.
