Charleroi wastes opportunities in 5-3 loss to McGuffey

Charleroi’s WPIAL softball playoff hopes were dealt a blow Wednesday when the Cougars dropped a 5-3 Section 3-2A verdict against visiting McGuffey.
Charleroi (6-8, 4-7) could have clinched a playoff berth by beating the Highlanders (4-8, 4-7).
Now, Charleroi needs to defeat Carmichaels at home today (4:30 p.m.) to clinch a playoff berth. If the Cougars lose, they will need help to make the postseason.
