Hounds back in playoff hunt

Don’t look now, but there’s another local softball team in the playoff hunt.

With its 7-4 win over visiting Avella Wednesday afternoon, the Monessen softball team currently finds itself in playoff position.

Hannah Yorty went 3 for 4 and Mattie Telegraphis slugged her third home run of the season and doubled to lead the Greyhounds (2-8, 2-5) to the win.

Head coach Carlee Wickstrom was happy to see her Greyhounds beat a team below them in the standings and take care of business on their home field.
