Edison Skippy Macosta – North Charleroi

Edison Skippy Macosta, 87, of North Charleroi, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on April 20, 2019. He was born on Oct. 18, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of the late Frank Fagnelli and Mary Macosta. Skip proudly served his country in the Korean War, earning three Bronze Stars. On Christmas Eve 1957, he married the love of his life, Janet Elaine Macosta, who survives. He was a retired union laborer. Skip was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Monessen. He was also a member of the Frank Ricco Sons of Italy in Brownsville, Italian American Society in Monessen and Italian Heritage. Surviving are two sons, Scott (Lara) of Daisytown, and Mark (Joanne) Macosta of Marianna; and three grandchildren, Nickolai, Malaina and Carlo. Also surviving is a brother, Harold “Sonny” Kotchig; and brother-in-law, Esio Bertoncini. Deceased is a granddaughter, Felicity Elaine Macosta; and sisters, Carmella Bertoncini and Phylis Smith. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home with a Panachida service followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church with Father Stephen Wahal officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rostraver Township.
