Rams keep rolling with win over BVA

For the first time in six seasons, the Ringgold Rams knocked off Belle Vernon Area on the softball diamond. And it came with two claps and a Ric Flair.

The Rams, feeding off the energy of their head coach, used a four-run fourth inning to vault their way to a 5-3 win in Section 2-4A play. The win gives Ringgold a two-game lead over the rival Leopards for the final playoff spot in the section.

Not counting a forfeit in 2016, the last time the Rams beat BVA was a 9-3 win nearly six years to the day.

“They’re a good ball team and we knew coming in that we needed to play almost perfect,” a fired up Ringgold coach Gregg Adams said. “I’m so proud of this team and these girls. We played them early in the season and they really hit the ball hard. We knew we’d have to play our A-game. We may not have A-players just yet, but we’re getting there.”
