Residents of an apartment building at 400 Donner Ave. in Monessen were evacuated just after 7 p.m. Monday after a portion of the brick facade along the top of the building began to collapse.
Monessen police Lt. Michael Keleman said there were no injuries.
The building, which is directly across the street from Union Prescription Center, has a brick facade that extends a few feet from its roof. The portion of the facade that faces the Fourth Street parking spaces alongside the building fell, and narrowly avoided causing major damage to one parked car. The vehicle appeared to have sustained minor paint damage and was covered in brick dust.
Monessen Public Safety Director Councilman Dave Feehan said late Monday that the cause of the partial collapse is still undetermined.
