Bernice Kinds Johnson – Donora

By obits

Bernice Kinds Johnson, 80, was received by God, April 16, 2019. Bernice was born Feb. 26, 1939, and was the daughter of the late William C. Kinds and Mary A. Kinds. She was a great woman of God, strong in her faith. She loved the Lord, loved His word and she loved gospel music. When Bernice was able to attend, she was a faithful member in the choir, matriarch of the family, our backbone and support. Bernice was warm and compassionate. Her love resonated to family, extended family, friends and anyone who came in contact with her. Her wit, charm and humor was always evident. “Ma” will forever be in our hearts. We love you! Bernice, the mother of nine children, was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Kinds; and her daughter, Camille Lawrence; and brothers and sisters, George Kinds, Onnie Mosley and Geneva Robison. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Gary Kinds of Rochester, Pa., and Marcus (Renae) Johnson of Jefferson Hills, Pa.; five daughters, Cheryl Kinds of Donora, Sabrina (Chris) Wilson of Pittsburgh, Katrina (Vincent) Wilson of Donora, Kimberly Johnson of Donora, Carol (Otha) Curley of Monessen; two brothers, William Kinds and John Kinds; two sisters, Tazzie Goins and Mary Kinds, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Viewing will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. April 20, 2019, with a funeral service starting at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 230 Reed Ave., Monessen, with the Rev. Otha Curley officiating. Final celebration has been gently placed in the hands of HOUSE OF JACKSON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 546 Thompson Avenue, Donora, 724-379-5420, Karl Jackson, funeral director.
