Genevieve Blangger Zuccarini was 92 years old when she passed away on April 12, 2019. A resident of the Mon-Valley her entire life, Genevieve was born on Dec. 30, 1926, daughter of Edward and Susan Grazzini Blangger. Genevieve became a proud matriarch of a large family. She met the love of her life, Leo, upon his return from the Navy. Genevieve happily married Leo Zuccarini on May 7, 1949, and from that moment on, their love and unity became boundless. Prior to marriage, Genevieve worked in the office for U.S. Steel in Donora. Once Genevieve married and had children, she stayed at home for a period to focus on family. Faith and family were priorities for Genevieve. It was not uncommon to find Genevieve praying for the health and well-being of family members, as well as any person in need. Genevieve eventually went back to work at J.C. Penny to help pay tuition for her children. She worked for J.C. Penny for over 20 years. Genevieve’s steadfast focus on faith and family was always the guiding light that helped her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren navigate life’s journey. Her focus on faith and family defined who she was and she routinely gathered her family to celebrate both while sharing a well prepared meal. If you showed up to her home on any given Sunday afternoon, you would likely find her humming softly to instrumental music and happily preparing a meal for her family to enjoy. Genevieve was a positive role model for all of her children. She was the best and will be missed and loved by her family forever. Thanks for everything Gram – we love you! Genevieve is survived by her sister, Virginia Saxon (Tom); her brother-in-law, Bernard Zuccarini; her daughter, Nancy Garcia (Jeff DeRosa); son, Thomas Zuccarini (Sharon); son, Richard Zuccarini (Linda); daughter, Christine Nicodemus (Darren); eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Rolniak; brother-in-law, Walt Rolniak; nephew, Charles Rolniak; nephew, Edward Saxon; grandson, Lee Richard Zuccarini; sister-in-law, Dorothy Zuccarini; and sister-in-law, Dolores Zuccarini; and the love of her life, Leo, who lived one day less than his beloved Genevieve. Genevieve’s family would also like to express a special thank-you to Bethel Park Manor Care and the staff who provided comfort and support to Genevieve over the past three years. Friends will be received at the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Blessing prayers will begin in the funeral home 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial with Father Kevin Dominik as celebrant. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
