James G. Bindi – Monongahela

James G. Bindi, 73, of Monongahela, died Monday April 15, 2019, in Har-mon House Care Center, Mt. Pleasant. He was born July 24, 1945, in New Eagle, son of the late George J. and Virginia McClure Bindi. Jim was a 1963 graduate of Monongahela High School. He received numerous service medals while serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, when he was stationed at Camp Tien Sha as part of the naval security group in Danang. After returning home from the war, Jim attended the University of California, where he received his bachelor’s in theater arts and film study and then earned a master’s in dramatic literature from Western Washington University. He was active in the regional theater in California and became an entertainment writer for the Santa Cruz Sentinel. He worked as a senior analyst for the State of California Department of Health and Welfare until his retirement. Jim is survived by many close friends who he made over the years. Friends are invited to attend a graveside service in Monongahela Cemetery beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019, with the Rev. Mark Woomer officiating. The Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad will conduct military honors. MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela is in charge of arrangements.
