Once a month, a group of Mon Valley women get together to share, learn and train to become better shooters.

The Well Armed Women Monongahela Chapter, a nonprofit organization, has grown to about 14 members in the past two years.

Well Armed Women shooting chapters are located around the country, meeting once a month to practice, learn and grow as shooters. They create opportunities for women to be introduced to important issues, learn safe gun-handling skills and train together. It is open to women over the age of 18 or 21, depending on state laws.

Arlene Rhone of Monongahela, the leader of the local chapter said the group not only gives women with a common interest a place to go, it addresses issues and challenges that only female shooters may face.
