After 47 years serving the residents of Monongahela, police Chief Brian Tempest attended his final council meeting Wednesday.

Tempest, who retires at the end of the month, was showered with recognition during the meeting from council members, Mayor Bob Kepics and state Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Carroll Township.

Tempest said he had one rule for his guys, “to treat the people, the public, the way you would want to be treated if police came to your house.”

Kepics said he is really going to miss Tempest, adding “it’s one of the saddest days of my life. You’ve been like a brother to me, a father to me and you’ve always had my back and I’ve had your back.”
