Elizabeth Forward coach Harry Rutherford stood and watched Monday as his team struggled early against Thomas Jefferson pitcher Bella Bucy.
Their first time through the order, the Warriors flied out four times, had three strikeouts and had a batter walk.
“They were swinging at bad pitches and going up after the high pitch,” Rutherford said. “I basically just said to stay off of that, make her bring it in to your zone and we’ll be able to hit that pitch.”
In the fourth, the Warriors batted around and scored five runs to help lead them to an 11-1 victory over the Jaguars in a Section 2-4A road matchup.
