Plea deal allows woman to avoid death penalty

By Mon Valley Independent

By Natasha Lindstrom

A McKeesport woman took a plea deal Monday to avoid the death penalty for suffocating her 17-month-old son out of anger when she believed her boyfriend was cheating on her.

Christian Clark, 24, faces life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing her son, Andre Price III, by smothering him against the bedding of an air mattress until he stopped breathing and attempting to kill her 2-year-old daughter by holding her face against a pillow on Nov. 1, 2016.

She pleaded no contest to the charges of homicide and attempted homicide, which means she accepted the prosecution’s evidence against her but did not admit guilt. She pleaded guilty to three additional counts of child endangerment and aggravated assault related to months of abuse against both children prior to Price III’s death.
