Monessen Cleanup Day volunteers needed

As part of the city’s comprehensive plan preparations, Monessen officials are seeking volunteers for its inaugural Cleanup Day.
In honor of Earth Day, the citywide festivities will take place April 27.
Interested volunteers should meet at 9:30 a.m. at Monessen High School, 1245 State Road. Work will begin along St. Mary’s Road at 10 a.m., and lunch will be provided by the Monessen Salvation Army Mon Valley Citadel at noon.
Volunteers will then move to Sixth Street and Ninth Street for the afternoon.
Comprehensive plan project manager Amy Wiles of Mackin Engineering said groups are also encouraged to clean their own neighborhoods in support of Cleanup Day.
